Maria drove down to the barn in her pastel yellow convertible Porsche. She parked and stepped out, clicking the "door-locking" button. Once she heard the loud 'beep', she went into the entrance of the show barn, where her horses and ponies were kept. There were 3 different barns that made up HPF; The Main Barn, The Show Barn, and The Breeding Barn. She walked up to Starlette's stall, took down the stall-guard and went in. Starlette, a.k.a. Star, was Maria's prize chestnut Thoroughbred mare who she had won many jumper and EQ shows with.
"Good mornin' beautiful girl" Maria said in a sing-song voice. The mares ears perked up as soon as she saw her owner. Maria put on Star's Hampton leather halter with brass name-plate over her copper ears. She clipped it shut and led Star out with the navy twisted lead rope. She led her to the first set of cross-ties and clipped them to both sides of the halter. She put the lead rope on the stall door and got out a soft brush. She went over Star's dusty coat until it shined like a brand new penny. Maria put the brush back and went to go get her tack. Once inside the huge tack room, she went over to her 7 foot long aluminum tack trunk and got out her Circuit Elite saddle with Herm Sprenger irons, Circuit girth, Circuit martingale, navy pad, and fleece half pad. She went back out, put the tack on the ground, and went back for the second trip. The next time, she got Star's name-plated fig. 8 Wylde bridle with rubber gag, black Eskadron jumping boots, and navy ear bonnet. With her free hand, she grabbed her GPA titanium helmet, SSG crochet gloves, and Pessoa crop. She took all the tack out to Star and tacked up. After putting on her helmet and gloves, she led the big mare out to the mounting block. Maria tightened the girth, ran down the stirrups, and snapped her helmet before mounting. Once she was on, she walked over on a loose rein to the Jumper ring.
