Lindsay walked Joker to the outdoor arena. He looked very spiffy in his new tack and his chrome still shinny. Lindsay got on and slowly started to warm the big horse up. She hadn't jumped him in a little while so she wanted to make sure his back was really loose. After doing some lateral work at the walk she started to trot and make him change his pace within the gate and flex a little. After he was significantly warmed up at the walk and trot she brought him back to the walk and then cantered. After doing some long and low canter work in both directions and making him adjust within the gait Lindsay looked at the jumps to start him over. She started with just a couple cross rails and lower verticals. Joker, oddly enough, seemed a little asleep and was rubbing rails. Knowing that in jumpers those rubs could cost you a competition Lindsay took his front wraps off so he would feel any rail he hit. She got back on and tried the smaller fences again with a much better response. Making sure he was awake she the started doing some tighter turns and different lines to the mid sized fences. Now he was alive and jumping in a great form. She jumped him over a couple bigger fences but they probably weren't higher than about 3'7". She then took him on a nice relaxing trail ride to cool off and gave him a good cool shower before putting him away.
